As was announced in November, Sukkat Shalom is holding a Full Community Meeting Sunday, February 2 from 4 – 6 pm at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 93 West Weisheimer Road. Please plan to join us! The majority of the time will be participating in a facilitated discussion on shared norms, followed by approval of a revision to our organizational By-laws. Thank you to Michelle Moskowitz Brown, who will be facilitating much of the meeting for us. Michelle writes:
Shared Norms – These are group agreements that are important for communication and interaction in any group. They are also only as good as the people who practice them or address issues as they arise. The attached document was created in a board session last fall. We will have a discussion and additional participation from the whole community at this Full Community Meeting.
Our By-laws have not been updated since 2011, and a lot has changed since then. Attached to this email is a clean copy of the proposed revised By-laws and a memo outlining the changes made. If you would like to see the current By-laws with the proposed changes in the “track changes” format, email me at debraseltzer@hotmail.com and I will be glad to send them. Also available is a version that has the By-laws with the information on the memo inside the document so you can see the changes next to the explanation. This is also available upon request.
We will also share information about the Columbus Jewish Community’s city-wide Life and Legacy Project , and collecting information about your social action interests. If you are not able to attend the meeting and want to vote on the By-laws, you can send a proxy vote by emailing Debra and copying the person who will be holding your proxy vote that you are making that request.
